It’s the year of the Air Jordan IV. Michael Jordan’s fourth signature sneaker, which debuted in 1989, makes a case for itself as one of the most iconic basketball sneakers of all time. There’s a romantic notion to the silhouette, popular across cultures from rare to GR; you get it all with the 4s. Non-other than Tinker Hatfield drew it up on the sketchpad, using urethane-coated netting matched with leather, resulting in a premium hoops sneaker. In the process of designing, Tinker even considered a snap-in buckle for advanced support at the forefoot, which obviously got scrapped. Unlike the very limited Air Jordan 3 back in the days, the Air Jordan IV was released in more significant quantities, lifting MJ to his next stage at becoming the biggest sports-person in the world.

This year we celebrate 30 years of Air Jordan IV, and MJ details aside, the aesthetics of the shoe are truly perfect. With the release of the Air Jordan IV “Laser,” a reemerging sneaker design phenomenon born in the early 2000s as a Birthday Edition for MJ himself, we took it to the streets of New York City and linked-up with Derek Balarezo to highlight the release.

The Air Jordan 4 Retro SE ”Laser” is releasing on the 19th of January at all Sneakersnstuff locations and online at 09:00 am CET.
