SNS meets Jazz Cartier

We linked up with Jazz Cartier at SNS LA to discuss his latest album The Fleur Print, his creative process and what to expect from him in the near future.

SNS : Jazz! Thank you for sitting down with us. You've lived in many different areas of the world throughout your life. What was it like growing up in different environments and has it had an impact on your creative process?

Jazz Cartier : The biggest impact moving around a lot has had on me is my ability to appreciate the present and the people around me. I got used to picking up and leaving which was symbolic to a lot of things later on in life but beyond that it made me just appreciate what was in front of me. So when it comes to music, I apply the same attitude towards myself being in the studio.

SNS LA : Your latest album "The Fleur Print" dropped earlier this month and the album before that "Fleurever" was released in 2018. Have you felt that you've grown artistically between those 3 years and what are the differences, if any?

Jazz Cartier : I’ve grown as a person, which definitely translates to the music. The Fleur Print was a new chapter in my life and that was when I first moved to LA. I’m happy I got to share it with the world. Both albums mean a lot to me, different versions of myself in audio form. Like a sonic photobook.

SNS LA : You've also been working on a skin care line "Petal Skyncare". Can you give us a taste on what we can expect from it once it drops?

Jazz Cartier : I’m doing my best to introduce a regimen I'm known for to people who want to take the next step in self care. I don’t always want to be the only one with great skin in the room!

SNS LA : Your style is impeccable. Have you always had an interest in fashion? Who are some of your biggest style influences and have you been able to meet them?

Jazz Cartier : I don’t register with much fashion influences. I think through my travels, I've just managed to pinpoint what I like / don’t like and what looks good / doesn’t look good. I miss the days when there was regional style. Now with the peak of social media , everything kind of blends together. So I can appreciate any trail blazer who dares to be different.

SNS LA : What can we expect from Jazz Cartier in the next 5 years?

Jazz Cartier : Jazz Cartier now will be very pleased with the Jazz Cartier in 5 years. From more fashion endeavors, film, novels, more skin care products , and giving back to the community. More music as well. I feel like my output now will be at its best.
