Kenny Mason for SNS LA

We sat down with multifaceted artist, Kenny Mason at SNS LA in Venice, CA to discuss his hometown of Atlanta, his creative process and his recent project Angelic Hoodrat : Supercut.

SNS LA : Let's begin with who you are, where you're from and what you do.

I’m Kenny Mason. I’m from Atlanta. I make songs.

SNS LA : How have you seen the city of Atlanta change over the last ten years? Positive and negative.

Atlanta seen a powerful surge of creative energy over da last decade. Don’t think it’s stoppin anytime soon. We got da best artists in da world. I got nun negative to say.

SNS LA : What's your creative process and how does it affect your day to day life?

Most of my inspirations come from my interpretation of my environment. I jus write what I see/feel.

SNS LA : Do you draw inspiration from your surroundings and if so, how does it translate through your craft?

My style is jus a melting pot of things dat i love.

SNS LA : How does your style differentiate from others in the industry?

I used inspiration from dat to push my self to go beyond it. Being da best version of myself automatically make me stand out.

SNS LA : Your follow-up album to last year's Angelic Hoodrat, Angelic Hoodrat : Supercut was released in April of this year. Can you walk us through the differences of both records?

Da supercut was supposed to be da deluxe to AH and ended up becoming a project on its own. It’s in da same world. Not too much of a difference other den more experience.

SNS LA : What can we expect from Kenny Mason in the upcoming months?
