Sneakersnstuff is celebrating its 20th anniversary on March 26th, 2019, by opening doors to its sixth store worldwide, located on the Venice Beach Boardwalk in Los Angeles, CA.

The new 3500 sq ft Sneakersnstuff Los Angeles retail space mirrors the design ethos it has for all its stores worldwide: a design and interior inspired by the city and neighborhood that it lives in, influenced by past and present history.

The Sneakersnstuff team, in partnership with interior architect designer Jenny Askenfors of Bofink Design Studio who designs all Sneakersnstuff stores and venues, designed and created Sneakersnstuff LA to seamlessly integrate into Venice Beach. Sneakersnstuff and Askenfors conduct extensive research into the heritage elements in each city the shops are located in, looking at the history, integrity of the locals and design influences that can be seen in the communities. The results are well thought out shops with custom interiors, furniture, and details unique to each SNS retail space globally. At Sneakersnstuff LA, one will see heavy nods to the rich and abstract culture of Venice Beach.

Inspired by the history and legacy of Venice, from the Venice founders’ obsession with Venice, Italy, to championing the Mexican heritage and overall culture of the west coast, the Sneakersnstuff store pays homage to all of the elements which make Los Angeles, primarily Venice, special. The Mexican history and influences coming from California being owned by Mexico from 1821-1848 have been a huge inspiration for the shop. A big curved table in the mix of brands section is inspired by the Venice, Italy canals, and the legs are an interpretation of the decorative gondola poles that are traditionally seen in Venice, Italy. The pole/leg ends features jewelry/embellishments made by Göran Kling, who’s drawn inspiration from Mexican culture as well as skateboarding while other tables in the mix of brands section are inspired by surf boards.

Highlighted design elements in the space include a custom floor logo with shells picked on Venice Beach, the arches in the store are obviously Venice inspired and features a sunset gradient, a fitting room pays tribute to the Los Angeles Car culture with a magenta colored theme done by a local pinstriper and a room of bright pink plush fabric that replicates a car door and seat. Sneakersnstuff has wood carved sneaker capitals handmade and crafted in Sweden, made by Swedish woodcarver Christer Björkman custom in the Nike and adidas dedicated spaces.

The Nike space in the shop features a Cortez Pinata, table with graphics made by Swedish illustrator Martin Ander and a basketball fountain designed by Lilian Martinez of BFGF.

The adidas section in the store is an homage to the infamous “Muscle Beach” in Venice. A huge concrete sculpted barbell is the centerpiece of the display, flagged with dumbbells made out of sand continuing on the theme.

The Sneakersnstuff “Souvenir Shop” continues to pay homage to the Venice Boardwalk and is an extension of the retailer where Sneakersnstuff highlights and will sell SNS branded “souvenirs,” retail special products and releases, and will partner with brands, artists and designers to host pop-up shops. To celebrate the opening of Sneakersnstuff Los Angeles, the souvenir shop will feature an SNS capsule collection including custom tie dye hoodies, graphic t-shirts, frisbees, water bottles, key rings and more.

Outside of being a premium sneaker destination, the space will also serve as a hub for events, activations, community work, engaging with local creatives, artists, and branded store experiences. This will include the Sneakersnstuff Art Program - a space dedicated to a rotating program of artists, with the proceeds of all artwork sold going to a charitable cause decided by SNS and each artist. Curated by HVW8 gallery, the work of Erin D. Garcia is the first to exhibit artwork on opening day. Discover the SNS Art Program here.
