SNS and Reebok present: Classics on Classics

The quest for the latest red-hot collaboration often shows us that while transforming a basic silhouette into a collab-heavy look, it also reminds us how great the original design is, a classic. But what’s a classic in today’s #goat driven SoMe world? Some would guess it’s something timeless. Old? Maybe. But definitely appealing to a particular eye, and when it bridges the gap to the mainstream, it can become a success on a bigger scale. Nothing wrong with that. Reebok carries it in it's history-written name, Reebok Classics, something that was birthed to cater to a selected audience but transitioned to a broader audience making its sneakers timeless icons, from nerdy collector to casual Friday once-a-week sneaker connoisseur. The beloved silhouettes have iconic status, just as the local talents that we worked with to shed yet another (high-)light on the basic line by Reebok. But how local are international house DJ’s like Axel Boman or a football jersey’s diggers-dream from “Classic Football Shirts” really? A lot, because it starts right there. Right in your local four walls, the block you live in, the guys you work with, and the people you hang out with. Sure, you can jet-set around the world, but in the end, classics are built right at home, and that’s where the love for our latest Reebok Classic project started, around the Classics our locals are inspired by. From Axel Boman, London’s own Doug Bierton of Classic Football Shirts, Monsieur Dope from Berlin’s Mitte hotspot District Mot, Jaures Makoungo of famed Parisian record store Soul Ableta, musician Mareba from Los Angeles, and Jennifer Prezioso of NYC’s iconic Albanese Meats and Poultry.
