To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the groundbreaking Zürich sandal, Birkenstock has unveiled the Zürich Tech Pack, which updates the iconic silhouette with premium materials and modern-day tech. The launch represents a contemporary update to a sandal that was a key step forward for the brand, both in terms of design and execution.

To highlight this moment Birkenstock has explored the relationship between past and present as a means to push things forward.

To delve deeper into this notion we decided to turn our attention to friends of Sneakersnstuff who we believe manifests and mirrors Birkenstocks dedication to pushing things forward. There is few who play this role better than Stockholm-based creative collective and cultural innovators TUKIO, so we headed over to their studio space at Guldfabriken in Stockholm and met the team for a shoot in the all new Zürich Tech Pack.

TUKIO was founded in 2018 out of the necessity to bring forth a more diverse music and cultural scene. Since then they have created a platform that has brought to live festivals, concerts, radio shows and community platforms that have all pushed the boundaries of Scandinavian youth and pop culture.

Despite of their position at the very front of cultural shifts, TUKIOS approach has always been to place as much emphasis on the people, expressions and platforms that have set the foundation for contemporary expressions. Their ethos stems from a firm belief that innovation and timeless expression comes from moments where people meet over generations and can exchange ideas, share references and experiment together. With Guldfabriken as their base they have major plans to continue pushing the scene forward in 2024.
