PUMA GV Special

Back in October, Puma invited us to head to the beautiful region of Puglia in Italy to discover the legendary history and manufacturing process behind their classic court shoe, the GV Special, which was introduced back in the ‘80s in collaboration with iconic tennis player Guillermo Vilas.

We received a complete Italian experience with a tour of the local surroundings, a fine wine tasting and a cooking session, where we saw the intricate details behind Italy’s famous pasta dishes. To complete the trip, Puma invited us to design our very own version of the GV Special. SNS’ creative director, Johan Undén, took on the challenge and created a unique pair for our friends & family.

Originally introduced as part of a collaboration with Guillermo Vilas, who was known for his one-handed backhand and off-the-court charm, the Puma GV Special returns with its era-defining sleek, low profile, a crispy white leather upper detailed with gold-coated branding, perforations across the vamp for enhanced breathability and Puma branding on the chunky foam midsole, while the signature Formstrip on the upper rounds of the retro, match-winning look.
