SNS Reappropriated by

Beka Moore and Charlotte Moss

Part of the charm of Sneakersnstuff is, we roll with whatever we like. Beka Moore impressed us with her honest costume design and deconstructed approach, so we linked-up with the London-based multi-talent and let her do her thing. It’s enjoyable to see her exposed design, the unexpected rework, breaking SNS clothing into a one-of-one art piece. Blurring the lines between traditional design and just freakishly polarities, Beka reinterprets our gear, turning them into a Moshpit, pregnant with devotion, full of rage with a sweet ending. "This project focuses on sustainability and the ulterior possible uses of existing brand merchandise while playing on the concept of combining late 17th Century womenswear silhouettes with modern streetwear culture.

I approached Beka Moore to create a small collection of one-off pieces using the brand's archived merchandise. I liked the idea of toying with late 17th/early 18th Century womenswear designs when the focus often lied on the visual impact rather than functionality or wearability. We wanted to reappropriate key pieces from this era that have stood the test of time (i.e. the corset) and repurpose them for the modern wearer.

*In contradiction to the historic influence, the garments were designed to feel obviously DIY; an ode to streetwear sub-cultures, as well as drawing inspiration from Vivienne Westwood and Poly Styrene (from X-Ray Spex). *

We wanted the images to be paired back and simple – with the focus on the garments and the model, Syd. Syd elevated the creative through adding shape and silhouette, the aim to repurpose something existing into something ultimately special and unique. She mentioned the project aligned with her own philosophy - that sometimes it requires stepping back and perceiving things differently, to really appreciate the potential."
