Vault by Vans x KRINK
Presented by SNS & Books on the tub
Leading with a sense of DIY and empowered by creative expression, Vault by Vans has partnered up with Brooklyn-based Krink.
Krink began as the first ink and paint market brand for graffiti writers and grew exponentially into an international art supply brand with continually expanding collections of apparel, artist tools and accessories. Inspired by Krink’s founder, Craig Costello, who grew up writing graffiti, skateboarding, and listening to punk and hip-hop, DIY sensibility informed much of what he and his community did in their youth.
SNS teamed up with Books on the tub to highlight the six-piece collection featuring a jacket, two t-shirts and three footwear designs, that all celebrate the history and heritage of Krink with functional design details for graffiti writer’s everyday wear. Books on the tub is a Stockholm based, anonymous duo of graffiti writers who has applied their DIY graffiti mentality on something completely different. Instead of just bombing the subway system with tags, they use it as a platform for spreading insights and perspectives by distrubuting free books on trains and subway stations. “Every generation's ultimate task is to inspire the next one. Krink did that for the graffiti culture, Vans for skaters and punk rockers. We want to inspire a new generation of readers.” - the duo said when we met them at an outdoor station on an unusually sunny day in Stockholm. So if you happen to come across a Krink book on a dusty old subway seat anytime soon - take it home, read it, and return it.
